The goal of American Promise is to organize Americans to win the 28th Amendment to the Constitution to restore American democracy in which We the People—not big money, not corporations, not unions, not special interests—govern ourselves. We provide educational resources and activities through American Promise, Inc. a non-profit corporation under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. We provide grass-roots membership activities and, people-powered advocacy through American Promise Initiative, Inc., a non-profit corporation under section 501 (c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Everytown is a movement of Americans working together to end gun violence and build safer communities. More than 4 million mayors, moms, cops, teachers, survivors, gun owners, and everyday Americans have come together to make their own communities safer. The students of America are teaming up with Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America to launch Students Demand Action.

Generation Citizen is a national nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to educating and empowering the next generation of civically engaged citizens. GC has educated and empowered approximately 14,000 students nationwide this year in New York City, Rhode Island, Massachusetts; the Bay Area, California; Oklahoma City, and Central Texas, as well as piloting “remote programming” in San Diego, California; and Camden, New Jersey.

We are a nonpartisan, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that reveals the influence of money in politics, informs and empowers voters, and advances reforms that promote a more responsive democracy. MapLight’s online tools and research bring transparency to government data and put a spotlight on the outsize influence of money in politics so that journalists and advocacy groups can hold lawmakers accountable.

Open Markets Institute

The Open Markets Institute a team of journalists, researchers, lawyers, and advocates working together to expose and reverse the stranglehold that corporate monopolies have on our country. The team addresses these threats through cutting edge journalism, historical and legal analysis, and direct outreach to policymakers and the public in the United States and Europe.

R Street Institute is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, public policy research organization. Our mission is to engage in policy research and outreach to promote free markets and limited, effective government. We work extensively on both state and national policy, and focus on issues that other groups tend to neglect. Our specialty is tackling issues that are complex, but don’t necessarily grab major headlines. These are the areas where we think we can have a real impact.

We bring together conservatives, progressives, and everyone in between to pass powerful anti-corruption laws that stop political bribery, end secret money, and fix our broken elections. We are a not-for-profit entity funded by donations from our supporters. We also receive grants from philanthropic organizations.

Common Cause is the original “citizens lobby,” founded in 1970, now a million strong with offices in 35 states and supporters in all 50. It promote honest, open, accountable government in Washington and in our state capitals. As a nonpartisan independent voice for change and as an organization committed to upholding the core values of American democracy, Common Cause does not endorse candidates for public office or engage in partisan political activity. It holds power accountable, no matter who holds power.

FairVote is a nonpartisan champion of electoral reforms that give voters greater choice, a stronger voice, and a representative democracy that works for all Americans. FairVote is the driving force behind advancing ranked choice voting and fair representation in multi-winner legislative districts that will open up our elections to better choices, fairer representation and more civil campaigns.

Giffords comprises three core entities: Advocacy and Lobbying -- Our 501(c)(4) nonprofit arm mobilizes lawmakers and the constituents they represent—gun owners and non–gun owners—in support of safer gun laws. Giffords PAC --Our political action committee supports elected officials who step up to fight the gun violence epidemic. Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence -- Our 501(c)(3) nonprofit works to research, write, defend, and enact the laws, policies, and programs proven to reduce gun violence and save lives.

Issue One is focused on the core civic issue of our time — fixing democracy, for the sake of returning government to the people. We are bringing the two parties together to solve the root cause of the dysfunction crippling Washington. Founded in 2013, we are the only nonprofit political reform group in Washington with a track record of uniting Republicans and Democrats. We are respected as honest brokers who act from a place of principle.

Nonpartisan, independent and nonprofit, the Center for Responsive Politics is the nation's premier research group tracking money in U.S. politics and its effect on elections and public policy. The Center pursues its mission largely through its award-winning website, OpenSecrets.org, which is the most comprehensive resource for federal campaign contributions, lobbying data and analysis available anywhere.

The Protect Democracy Project is a nonpartisan nonprofit with an urgent goal: to hold the President and the Executive Branch accountable to the laws and longstanding practices that have protected our democracy through both Democratic and Republican Administrations. We focus on research and public education to confront threats to our democracy, as well as litigation. The Protect Democracy Project is a sister organization of United to Protect Democracy.

Run for Office is a free service that provides all the tools you need to launch a successful campaign whether you are a seasoned veteran or first—time campaigner. The project, originally named BallotPath, opens the democratic process to more people by providing readily—available information about where and how to run for office across the country. It is funded by NationBuilder, whose software and free, open voter file lowers the barriers to running for office.

Democracy Works, a nonpartisan, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, comprised of a team of software developers, public policy wonks, and civic organizers building the tools needed to upgrade the infrastructure of our democracy and improve the voting experience for voters and election officials alike. Our first offering is TurboVote, an online service to help every American vote in every election—local, state, and national.

FactCheck.org a nonpartisan, nonprofit “consumer advocate” for voters that aims to reduce the level of deception and confusion in U.S. politics. We monitor the factual accuracy of what is said by major U.S. political players in the form of TV ads, debates, speeches, interviews and news releases. Our goal is to apply the best practices of both journalism and scholarship, and to increase public knowledge and understanding. FactCheck.org is a project of the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania.

The League of Women Voters is nonpartisan, neither supporting nor opposing candidates or political parties at any level of government. LWV encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. The LWV Voters Education Fund works to register voters and provide voters with election information .

The nonpartisan, nonprofit National Institute on Money in Politics promotes an accountable democracy by compiling comprehensive campaign-donor, lobbyist, and other information from government disclosure agencies nationwide and making it freely available at FollowTheMoney.org. The Institute’s massive database is intended to inform public debate on state policy issues. Our perceptive researchers help people make sense of the numbers. "The Institute publishes studies and provides technical assistance and training to reporters, academic researchers and public interest groups that work on state policy issues."

Public Citizen is a nonprofit organization that does not participate in partisan political activities or endorse any candidates for elected office. It accepts no government or corporate money. For four decades, it has championed citizen interests before Congress, the executive branch agencies and the courts -- challenging the abusive practices of the pharmaceutical, nuclear and automobile industries, and many others.

United to Protect Democracy is a 501(c)(4) tax-exempt organization focusing on advocacy efforts to confront threats to our democracy. While not tax deductible, gifts to United to Protect Democracy allow us the greatest flexibility in our work as in addition to funding litigation, public communications and organizing efforts, these gifts also enable us to advocate and lobby in legislatures at the federal and local level to strengthen and defend our democracy.
